Balaramapuram – Vizhinjam Rail Connect

The Vizhinjam International Port will be connected to the Indian Railway network through a 10.7-km railway line connecting the nearest Railway station Balaramapuram with Vizhinjam Port at an estimated cost of Rs 1,030 crore. All the manufacturing hubs of the country will thus be connected directly with the port. It will be the second longest underground rail tunnel in the country. DPR was prepared by Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL). Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL) submitted the DPR to Southern Railway on 4 March 2019, and awaits approval.
