City Gas Project

 City Gas Pipe Line has started in Trivandrum. The network being laid as part of the ongoing city project has so far covered 176km in the city within a year, providing 4,100 domestic and commercial connections as per latest statistics. As many as 45,000 house connections are expected to be provided by March 2024. One Lakh connections in Alapuzha and Trivandrum will be completed by 2024.

The consortium of AG&P-LNG Marketing Pte Ltd, and Atlantic Gulf & Pacific Company of Manila Inc is operating the city gas distribution. The liquid gas will be transported by vehicle from GAIL’s storage at Kalamassery to Kochuveli and then distributed through pipes to homes and commercial establishments in the city. The network will cover 6087 sq km, and provide 18,51,111 domestic, piped natural gas connections with a contract period of eight years. A total of 291 CNG stations will form part of the project. The project outlay is Rs 3200 Crores.
