Metro Rail

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) is assigned to implement the metro project in the State Capital. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is carrying out a comprehensive study in relation to the Thiruvananthapuram metro rail project. Based on the studies, DMRC will prepare and submit the Detailed Project Report (DPR). Last month, the authorities also started a field survey in Thiruvananthapuram. The plan is to adopt a medium-model rail system similar to Kochi Metro. Final decision will be taken after DMRC submits the study report. First corridor for MRTS is 27.4km long, spanning from Technocity (Pallipuram) to Pallichal via Karamana and Nemom. Next corridor is from Kazhakootam to Killippalam via Enchakkal, which is 14.7km long. Other corridors in Phase II are from Pallichal to Neyyattinkara (11.1km), Technocity to Mangalapuram (3.7km) and Enchakkal to Vizhinjam (14.7km).
