Improved Connectivity

The airport should increase the State Capital Region’s connectivity to the rest of the world to satisfy the post-pandemic rising demand by adding additional international and domestic flights. The immediate requirements are international flights to the Japanese capital Tokyo, Middle-East countries, European countries, USA, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, and domestic flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, Goa, Kolkata, Madurai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, etc.

Progress Made

More international services are announced from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport to Gulf countries from June 2022.

As per the new summer schedule announced the weekly flights are increased to 540 as against the existing 348.

Weekly flight departures to 14 international destinations will be increased to 138 from the existing 95. Bangkok, Salalah, Hanimaadhoo (Maldives) are the new destinations added to the list.

The weekly domestic flight departures to 12 destinations will go up to 132 from the existing 79. Kolkata, Pune, and Durgapur are the new destinations added.

Next Milestones

New flights to Tourist Centers like Goa, Bagdogra (Darjeeling), Jaipur etc and Business Centers like Coimbatore, Ahmedabad, Indore etc.

New flights to Pune, Goa, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, post-COVID 19 restrictions.
